Railway Apprentice :
The Southern Railway (abbreviated SR), headquartered at Chennai, is one of the 18 zones of Indian Railways. It is the earliest of the 18 zones of the Indian Railways created in independent India. It was created on 14 April 1951 by merging three state railways,
namely, the Madras and Southern Mahratta Railway, the South Indian Railway Company, and the Mysore State Railway. The South Indian Railway was originally created in the British colonial times as Great Southern of India Railway Co founded in Britain in 1853 and registered in 1859.

Stipend For Railway Apprentice 2022 :-
- Fresher’s – X std – Rs.6000/- (per month)
- Fresher’s – 12thstd – Rs.7000/- (per month)
- Ex-ITI – Rs.7000/- (per month)
Qualification :-
Fresher Category:
Fitter, Painter & Welder:
- Should have passed 10th Class (with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks) under 10, +2 System of education or its equivalent.
Medical Laboratory Technician (Radiology, Pathology, Cardiology ):
- Should have passed 12th Class (with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks) under 10, +2 system of education with Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
Ex. ITI Category:
Fitter, Machinist, MMV, Turner, Diesel Mechanic, Carpenter, Painter, Welder(G&E), Wireman, Advance Welder & R&AC:
- Should have passed 10th Class (with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks) under 10 +2 System of education and ITI course in the relevant trade in Government recognized ITI
Electrician:
- Should have passed 10th Class (with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks)under 10 +2 System of education with Science as one of the subjects or its equivalent and ITI course in the relevant trade in Government recognized ITI
Electronics Mechanic:
- Should have passed 10th Class (with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks) under 10 +2 System of education with Science (Physics and Chemistry) and Mathematics or its equivalent and ITI course in the relevant trade in Government recognized ITI
PASAA:
- Should have passed 10th Class (with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks) under 10 +2 System of education & National Trade Certificate issued by National Council for Vocational Training in “Computer Operator and Programming Assistant”
Minimum Academic /Technical Qualification as per the Apprentices Act, 1961:

- Must have passed 10th class examination under 10 +2 system or its equivalent with minimum 50% marks in aggregate. For the calculation of percentage of matriculation, the marks obtained by the candidates in all subjects will be reckoned and not on the basis of marks of any subject or group of subjects like best of five etc. The candidates from Board of Secondary Education Andhra Pradesh, Board of Public Examination, Kerala etc, Administration will take midpoint of range of grades obtained by the candidates. After obtaining midpoints of all the attempted subjects according to grades awarded, average will be calculated treating each subject is out of 100 marks as there is no standard method or multiplying factor for calculation of average of matriculation for such Boards.
- Must have passed ITI Course in relevant trades from a recognized institution. For the calculation of percentage of ITI marks, the average marks mentioned in consolidate statement of marks of all semesters of the trade applied/Marks mentioned in the provisional National Trade Certificate issued by NCVT/SCVT will only be reckoned.
